Hosted in the idyllic setting of The Design Chapel, housed within Southampton’s Old Cemetery grounds, join artist Lucie Smith for a relaxing nature-focused workshop.
Learn the process of weaving using a natural loom and wildflowers to create a beautiful hanging wildflower piece that will last.
We’ll meet at The Design Chapel and share a herbal tea before heading outside for a walk around the beautifully wild cemetery grounds. During our walk we’ll collect wildflowers and grasses that you’ll use to create your woven piece.
Once we arrive back at The Design Chapel we’ll have a break for lunch and more tea.
After lunch Lucie will guide you on how to create your loom using natural materials and twine. You’ll then be ready to begin weaving your foraged flowers into the loom for the remainder of the workshop. Once completed, we’ll use a fixative to help with the preservation process of the flowers and discuss techniques for preserving them at home whilst they dry.
Dedicated tuition will be provided to everyone who attends, some experience of weaving would be beneficial but not necessary.
Please bring along a packed lunch and a basket/tote bag for collecting your flowers.
